Workplace Health and Safety Council

The Workplace Health and Safety Council has been set up to advise government on workplace health and safety matters.

With its tripartite membership the eight-member group includes government, employer and employee perspectives on workplace health and safety.

The Terms of Reference under which Council will operate was agreed to by Cabinet in November 2006.

The Council meets four times a year, in February, May, August and November.  A key item for the Council is the priority measures, both short and long-term, to achieve the Strategy vision. Working together, government, business, unions and communities can all play their part in making workplaces healthier and safer.
