Evaluation Framework

An evaluation framework has been developed to guide the evaluation of the Workplace Health and Safety Strategy.

The framework outlines three types of evaluation that will be used.

Formative evaluation is directed at improving the formation and implementation of the Strategy.

Process evaluation describes or documents what actually happened in the course of the Strategy.

Impact/outcome evaluation activity is directed at determining the longer-term impacts and outcomes of a programme.

The Strategy will be formally reviewed in June 2008.

Upcoming evaluation activities:

  • The evaluation framework is being reviewed by June 2007 to ensure that it continues to support the ongoing implementation of the Strategy programmes and activities.
  • A National Profile of Workplace Health and Safety in New Zealand to be completed by the National Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee late April 2007.

Workplace health and safety outcome indicators

Over time, indicators will be identified and developed to measure and monitor the Strategy's outcomes. For example, indicators are being developed or the Strategy implementation programmes.
